The /Her/it•age and HIS•TIME Program
Franklin County Job and family Services
Mentorship and stabilization
The /Her/it•age Program actively challenges stereotypical expectations, sending a powerful message and creating a supportive space for redefining the identity of Black girls in contemporary society. By centering on the unique experiences of girls within a secure environment, the program empowers them to personally define what it means to be mentally well, healthy, resilient, and successful. Our objective is to position them as leaders who confidently speak up, cultivate a sense of purpose, prioritize meaningful goals, excel academically, and boost their self-confidence
Similarly, the HIS•TIME Program provides a nurturing environment for boys guided by male mentors who share their cultural background. This program confronts challenges, instills discipline, and fosters accountability through mentorship and structured goal progression plans. Boys are encouraged to define their own identities, challenging stereotypes and societal expectations associated with being a Black boy. The program actively dismantles rigid definitions that limit expectations, roles, and opportunities for Black boys by presenting alternative pathways and showcasing positive examples through professional mentors who have progressed in their careers and established healthy families.
